"Egypt and the Great Nile Cruise"

Day 1 - Thursday, November 5 Begin your exciting journey today as you depart Washington, DC on board your overnight transatlantic flight to Egypt.
Day 2 - Friday, November 6 Arrive in Cairo late this evening and transfer to your hotel. Your exciting journey through the wonders of Egypt begins.
Day 3 - Saturday, November 7 Travel to Giza to view the Great Pyramids and the Sphinx, sole survivors of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Visit the Egyptian Museum of Antiquities, housing the magnificent treasures of Tut-Ankh-Ahmon. Continue to the Citadel Fortress erected by Salah-ed-Din in the 12th century. See the Alabaster Mosque and the Sultan Hassan Mosque.
Day 4 - Sunday, November 8 The morning drive to Memphis, capital of the ancient kingdom. See the Alabaster Sphinx and the beautifully carved statue of Ramses II. Continue to Sakkara and the Step Pyramid of Zoser. This evening transfer to the railroad station to board an overnight train to Luxor.
Day 5 - Monday, November 9 Upon arrival in Luxor, you will cross the Nile to the West Bank and Thebes, the burial ground of the great pharaohs of the new Kingdom. Drive past the famed Colossi of Memnon. The highlight of this visit is the Valley of the Kings. See the Tomb of Ramses IV with its varied wall paintings and the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut. Then transfer to the pier for embarkation on your Nile cruise ship. After lunch, visit the Temples of Karnak and Luxor. Karnak Temple is the largest built by the ancient Egyptians. See the Hypostyle Hall, the Obelisk of Queen Hatshepsut and the Festival Hall of Tuthmosis III. Continue to Luxor Temple, built by Amenophis III for Amun, his wife, Mut, and their son Khonsu. See the fine wall reliefs depicting the daily lives of the pharaohs.
Day 6 - Tuesday, November 10 Today enjoy a day at leisure for relaxing or sunbathing on the upper deck as you depart Luxor and set sail "up the Nile" (southbound) to Esna. Then continue to Edfu where you will overnight on board.
Day 7 - Wednesday, November 11 This morning disembark in Edfu and take a horse-drawn carriage ride to visit the Temple of Horus, the falcon god, protector of the sun, and one of the best preserved in Egypt. Re-board your boat and sail on to Klom Ombo where you see the Ptolemaic Temple dedicated to the two gods, crocodile-headed Sobek and hawk-headed Haroeri. Sail on to Aswan.
Day 8 - Thursday, November 12 Begin your morning sightseeing with a visit to the New High Dam, the largest land filled dam in the world. See the unfinished Obelisk. Continue to the Greco-Roman temples of Philae, reconstructed stone by stone on the island of Agilkia. After lunch, board a felucca sailboat and cross one of the Nile's tributaries. Sail around Elephantine Island and see the Mausoleum of Agha Khan. Visit the Botanical Gardens on Kitchener Island, and then return to your ship.
Day 9 - Friday, November 13 After breakfast, disembark your ship for the last time and transfer to the airport for your flight back to Cairo. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel.
Day 10 - Saturday, November 14 Enjoy a free day in Cairo to explore the city or to return to the Egyptian Museum on your own.
Day 11 - Sunday, November 15 Your exciting visit of Egypt is over as you board your return flight to Washington, DC, arriving the same day.
